- Best for
- Flexible travellers who value relationships over polish.
- Combine with
- Pokhara, Tatopani, Annapurna or a Dhaulagiri journey.
- Travel well
- Ruma is a community, not a project display. Visits and volunteering must follow local needs.
Permits
Annapurna Conservation Area — arranged for you. Restricted areas require a licensed guide by law.
Narchyang lies near the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri corridors. Ruma sits at about 1,925 metres beneath the Dhaulagiri landscape. A chance visit led Eight Mountains to long term work here, including cleanups, bamboo waste baskets, health support, clothing distribution and a smart community library.
What to experience
- Village walks
- Magar community life
