What to expect

Before you go

Ideal stay
3 to 6 nights
Best time
October to November, March to April
How to get there
Travel through Pokhara and Beni, then continue on local roads and walking routes. Ruma needs local coordination.
Best for
Flexible travellers who value relationships over polish.
Combine with
Pokhara, Tatopani, Annapurna or a Dhaulagiri journey.
Travel well
Ruma is a community, not a project display. Visits and volunteering must follow local needs.

Permits

Annapurna Conservation Area — arranged for you. Restricted areas require a licensed guide by law.

Narchyang lies near the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri corridors. Ruma sits at about 1,925 metres beneath the Dhaulagiri landscape. A chance visit led Eight Mountains to long term work here, including cleanups, bamboo waste baskets, health support, clothing distribution and a smart community library.

What to experience

  • Village walks
  • Magar community life
  • Dhaulagiri landscapes
  • Eight Mountains purpose story
