8Mountains organizes regular health camps in partnership with local medical professionals. The recent one we did was in 4th of August, 2024 in Durbar Primary School in a remote village of Gorkha. These camps provide essential checkups, vaccinations, and basic medical supplies to underserved communities along our trekking routes. We believe in a holistic approach to sustainable travel, recognizing that the well-being of local communities is crucial.
At 8Mountains, we are committed to empowering local women by providing them with opportunities to become professional trekking guides. We also actively involve local communities in our operations, hiring porters, cooks, Paid Volunteers and support staff from nearby villages. This not only provides valuable income sources for local families but also strengthens the bond between trekkers and the communities they visit.
8Mountains actively participates in regular trail cleanups to minimize the environmental impact of trekking. We educate our clients and guides about the principles of Leave No Trace, emphasizing the importance of minimizing waste, respecting wildlife, and preserving the natural beauty of the Himalayas. We believe that responsible tourism is essential for the long-term sustainability of the Himalayan ecosystem and the well-being of the communities that depend on it.
